Does Bilby visit my store from inside the US, and when?
Yes. Bilby has two US regions — Virginia for the East Coast, Los Angeles for the West — and uses the one nearest your customers. The visit runs at 02:00 in your store’s time zone, in a real Chromium browser on a 1440×900 desktop and a 390×844 phone, home → product → cart → checkout, stopping at the payment step.
Speed and Core Web Vitals are measured from that region, so a store in Texas is not judged by a visit from Sydney. Bilby never places an order, never enters a card number and never needs access to your Shopify admin; it visits the public storefront as a customer would and photographs the payment step, then stops.
What breaks on US Shopify stores that uptime monitoring misses?
The failures that happen after the homepage loads: a Shop Pay or Afterpay button that errors, shipping rates that return nothing for a ZIP code, a sales-tax line that suddenly doubles after a Shopify Tax setting change, a discount code the checkout rejects, or a mobile theme update that hides add-to-cart. The server answers 200 through all of it.
Bilby presses the buttons, waits for the shipping and tax steps to resolve, reads the checkout for error text and photographs the screen where the visit stalled, with the fix written underneath. The Money check confirms your GA4 purchase event and Meta Pixel fire on the visit, which matters since Shopify’s August 2026 checkout-script sunset silently broke plenty of tracking.
Will I be charged sales tax on Bilby?
It depends on your state. There is no federal sales tax; Bilby’s checkout takes your billing address and runs Stripe Tax, which works out any state and local tax due on a software subscription there. You can enter your business tax ID at checkout so it prints on every Stripe invoice, and you receive an invoice for every charge.

What should an invoice from a US Shopify store include?
There is no federal invoice format, but a usable one carries your business name and address, the customer’s, an invoice number and date, each line item with quantity and unit price, shipping, the sales tax charged with its rate and jurisdiction, and the total due. Shopify’s order confirmation email is not an invoice a bookkeeper will accept.
