Does Bilby visit my store from inside the EU, and when?
Yes. Bilby’s Frankfurt region visits EU stores at 02:00 in the store’s own time zone (CET/CEST for most, EET for Finland and the Baltics), in a real Chromium browser on a 1440×900 desktop and a 390×844 phone, home → product → cart → checkout, stopping at the payment step. Nothing is ordered and no card is entered.
Speed and Core Web Vitals are measured from Frankfurt, so a store in Lyon or Milan is judged on a European connection, not one from Sydney. Bilby visits the public storefront as a customer would and never needs access to your Shopify admin; screenshots of every finding are stored with the report.
What breaks on EU Shopify stores that a pinger misses?
A cookie-consent banner that blocks add-to-cart on a phone after a theme update, an iDEAL, Bancontact or Klarna option that errors at checkout, a Shopify Markets language or currency switch that lands on a 404, VAT-inclusive prices that flip to ex-VAT, or shipping rates that stop returning for one country. The homepage still answers 200.
Bilby visits the store as a shopper: it presses the buttons, waits for shipping and VAT to resolve, reads the checkout for error text, and photographs the screen where it stalled, with the fix written underneath. The Money check confirms your GA4 purchase event and Meta Pixel fire on the visit.
Do I pay VAT on Bilby?
Bilby is supplied from Australia, outside the EU. Checkout takes your billing address and, if you have one, your VAT ID, which prints on every Stripe invoice; Stripe Tax works out any VAT due from that address. A VAT-registered business normally accounts for VAT on a non-EU supplier’s services itself under the reverse charge (Article 196, Directive 2006/112/EC).
Every charge produces a Stripe invoice in euros, sent to your billing email and downloadable from the customer portal. Cancelling is one click in the same portal; there is no minimum term.
How much does Bilby cost in euros?
Bilby is €27 a month for one store, Bilby Pro €72 a month for three stores plus the Rivals, Search and AI-visibility checks, and Agency €180 a month for 25 stores with a team seat for every account manager. What does an EU VAT invoice from a Shopify store need?
Under Article 226 of the VAT Directive: a sequential invoice number, the date, your VAT ID and the customer’s for B2B, both names and addresses, a description with quantity, the net amount per rate, the VAT rate and amount, and the reverse-charge or exemption wording where it applies. Shopify’s order confirmation is not one by default.
