Affiliate terms
Short, and every rule has its reason next to it. If a rule here does not make sense to you, that is worth an email — it usually means the rule is wrong rather than that the explanation is missing.

Who this is between
You, and Navaal AI, a business registered in Sydney, Australia. Joining means creating a referral code on your Navaal account. There is nothing to sign — if you are using a code, these terms apply, and if you stop using it they stop applying.
What we pay
25% of what your referral actually pays us, on every Bilby subscription invoice they pay, for 12 months from their first payment. Of what they paid, not of a list price: if they used a discount, your share is 25% of the discounted amount, in the currency they paid in. We pay on money that arrived, because that is the only number neither of us can argue with.
What does not earn commission
Shopify app subscriptions. The app bills through Shopify, and Shopify provides no way to share that revenue with a third party. We would rather write that here than imply a commission we have no mechanism to pay. Credit packs and one-off purchases do not earn commission either — the programme is for recurring Bilby plans.
What counts as your referral
Someone who follows your link and then pays for a Bilby subscription within 60 days of that first click. First touch wins. If they find you, wander off and come back a week later through a Google search, the referral is still yours. If they followed somebody else’s link before yours, it is theirs. The rule runs in both directions, which is the only reason it is fair. We record the code at the visitor’s first page view and attach it to the checkout; you can see the click that started it on your own page.
What is not allowed, and why
No referring yourself or a business you control — that is a discount, not a referral. No buying ads on “Navaal” or “Bilby” or close variants — you would be charging us commission to reach people already looking for us. No coupon, deal or cashback sites — they intercept buyers at the checkout who were already ours. And no paid placement in a ranking or “best tools” list: commission on a subscription someone chose is ordinary commerce, but money for a position in a list is buying a review, and it is the same line we refused twice this month when people offered to sell us one. Write what you actually think, including where Bilby is the wrong choice.
When commission is taken back
If the payment is refunded, charged back, or turns out to be fraudulent, the commission for that payment comes off. Nothing else does — a customer cancelling in month five does not claw back months one to four. If we have already paid you for a month that is later refunded, it is deducted from the next payment rather than invoiced back to you.
How and when you are paid
By hand, by bank transfer, on the 5th of each month, for commission earned up to the end of the previous month. A person reads the same table you can see and sends you an email with the figures before the transfer. There is no minimum payout and no payment threshold to reach. This is a manual process on purpose: at one to ten affiliates, automated payouts and fraud scoring cost more than they are worth, and a founder paying you personally with the numbers shown builds more trust than a dashboard. If the programme ever passes about ten affiliates we will move to a proper tool, and we will tell you before we do — nobody should discover through a spreadsheet error that they were being paid by hand.
What you can see
Everything we use to calculate your payment: clicks, signups, paying customers, each commissionable payment and each payout, on your referrals page. Clicks are shown even though they earn nothing, because being able to check the top of the funnel is what makes the bottom of it believable. If our number and yours disagree, tell us; we will look at the counting first.
Your data and your readers'
We record the referral code against the visitor’s session and, if they buy, against the subscription. We do not store their IP address, and we do not give you their name, email or store. You get numbers, not people.
Changing the rate
If we change the commission rate, referrals you have already made keep the rate they were made under for their full 12 months. A change applies to new referrals only, and we will email you before it starts.
Ending it
You can stop at any time by not using the link; tell us and we will close the code. We can end it too — for breaking the rules above, or because we are closing the programme — and if we do, commission already earned is still paid. The only case where it is not is fraud.
The boring bit
You are an independent party, not our employee, agent or partner, and you cannot make promises on our behalf — particularly about what Bilby finds or what it costs; link to the page instead. You are responsible for your own tax on what you earn. These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia.
